Sex Offender Shot

February 4, 2005

The former Anniston, Alabama substitute teacher who pleaded guilty last year to charges of second-degree rape of three high school students, during an almost three-year period beginning when the boys were 14, was sentenced this week to 12 years in prison. Bonita Strickland of Wellington declined the offer of a split sentence, which would have meant she would serve four years in prison and the rest of her sentence on probation, assistant district attorney Christina Kilgore said.

Strickland will be eligible for parole as decided by the Alabama Pardons and Parole.
