A Courtland High School special education teacher has been charged
with nine offenses involving sexual relations with two teenage
students, police said.
Bonnie Sue
Davis, 35, of Spotsylvania is charged with two counts of sodomy, six
counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and having sex
with a child.
She was
arrested late Thursday and placed in the Rappahannock Regional Jail,
Sheriff’s Lt. Eddie Peck said.
Davis, who
has worked for the Spotsylvania school system for six years, is
accused of sexual misconduct with two Courtland High boys, ages 14 and
15.
She has
been suspended from her teaching duties. Police say that none of the
alleged activity took place at the school.
Courtland
Principal Michael Bedwell said he could not comment on whether Davis
will return to her post.
“There is
an investigation happening,” he said. “We’ll have to wait and see the
outcome. I will not predict or presume what will happen down the
road.”
Spotsylvania detectives searched Davis' home in the county's Ruffins
Pond subdivision about 8:15 p.m. Thursday, according to paperwork
filed yesterday in Spotsylvania Circuit Court.
They
photographed the layout of the house and the contents of the
residence, according to court documents filed by Spotsylvania
Detective T.J. Bryner. Detectives suspect that the sexual activity
occurred there, Peck said.
An
arraignment for Davis has been set for Monday, Spotsylvania
Commonwealth's Attorney William Neely said.
Neely said
that Davis has hired defense attorney Phillip Sasser. Stuart Sullivan
is prosecuting the case.
