JV basketball coach accused of having sex with student

CHESAPEAKE - The junior varsity girls basketball coach at Norfolk Academy has been arrested after a parent at the school told police the coach was having sexual relations with a student.

Ashley Samaniego, a 23-year-old Chesapeake resident, has been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Chesapeake police spokeswoman Christi Golden said Samaniego is accused of having sexual relations with a 17-year-old female student. She was arrested at her home around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Samaniego was working part-time as a coach at the private school.
