Amy McElhenney
Not Indicted by Grand Jury
October 9th,
2006
A Denton County
grand jury on Thursday refused to indict a Hebron High School teacher
who was arrested in May and charged with having improper relations
with a student.
Amy McElhenney
was charged with having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old male
student at Hebron. […] When McElhenney, of The Colony, was arrested
the story gained national media attention.
The police
began investigating the case when an anonymous note was received by
the school resource office. The note stated a student had viewed text
messages on McElhenney’s cell phone that were “of an intimate nature
and not indicative of a normal teacher/student relationship, police
documents stated.
“McElhenney
did admit that she felt her relationship with [the student] was
inappropriate, the police documents state. “[The detective] asked
McElhenney about the nature of her relationship with [the student] and
McElhenney denied any physical or sexual relationships with [the
student].
