11, 2005 -- High school teacher faces sex abuse counts. Adrienne Lee
RaymondA Sheridan High School teacher is facing sexual abuse charges
in connection with her relationship with a 15-year-old student.
Adrienne Lee Raymond, 38, of
McMinnville pleaded not guilty Friday in Yamhill County Circuit Court
to six counts of third-degree sexual abuse. Raymond, who has taught
art, chemistry and physics for two years, was booked into the Yamhill
County Correctional Facility and released after posting $3,000
security bond against bail of $30,000.
Sheriff Jack Crabtree said sexual
activity between a teacher and a student began last summer and
continued into this fall. He said the incidents occurred at the
teacher's home in McMinnville and at a friend's home in Amity. None of
the incidents occurred on school property.
Superintendent Roy Williams of
Sheridan schools said Raymond has been placed on paid administrative
leave pending the outcome of the case. Meanwhile, he said he has
notified the state Teacher Standards and Practices Commission, which
will conduct its own investigation.

A former Sheridan High School science teacher admitted in court
Thursday that she molested and sodomized a male Sheridan High student
she had hired to do summer chores around her McMinnville apartment and
ex-husband's Amity farm.
Adrienne Lee Raymond, 39, pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree
sex abuse and one count of third-degree sodomy, alleging oral-genital
contact.
Sentencing has been set over until May 26, giving Raymond time to
undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation - routine in sex abuse cases.
District Attorney Brad Berry and defense attorney Lori Coukoules said
they'll be jointly recommending five years probation. They said they
have agreed to leave the amount of jail time, if any, up to Circuit
Judge John Collins.
Raymond admitted the sexual abuse had escalated from touching to
oral-genital conduct, and that the three counts she pleaded to stemmed
from separate episodes. That gives the court authority to sentence her
to up to five years in prison.
